Hants model HSD, a low safety valve with an open bonnet is a type of pressure relief valve designed for high-temperature applications, such as steam, where the bonnet (top part) is open to the atmosphere. This design allows the spring chamber to be vented , which helps cool the spring and enables the use of standard steel springs instead of expensive, high-temperature or special materials.
The open bonnet design allows the spring chamber to be vented to the atmosphere. This helps reduce heat accumulation around the spring, making the valve suitable for clean steam and high-temperature gas service where bonnet venting is acceptable. The low lift structure provides controlled pressure relief, compact installation, and economical protection for utility and auxiliary systems.
Hants is a sub-brand of us. As a specialized manufacturer of open bonnet low lift safety valves and fittings, we provide reliable pressure relief and overpressure protection solutions for various industries.

Different types of Design and Disc Material Selections
Engineers design an open bonnet lift safety valve to provide a visual indicator of valve operation and allow for the standard use of a standard steel spring at high temperatures, such as those found in steam applications. The exposed or open bonnet allows the bonnet chamber to be vented to the atmosphere, enabling the use of a standard spring rather than a specialized, more expensive high-temperature spring or a protective bellows, thereby protecting the spring from the high-temperature fluid.
No. An open bonnet safety valve is generally not recommended for toxic, flammable, corrosive, or hazardous media because the bonnet is vented to the atmosphere. If the medium must be contained, a closed bonnet, packed lever, bellows, or other sealed safety relief valve design should be considered.
